The Handsome Lady

BG-107 poster by Lee Conklin - Handsome Lady - Butterfield Blues Albert King poster

Description

Artist Lee Conklin called this poster the “Hand”some Lady and the original image came from a drawing in his portfolio that he showed Fillmore promoter Bill Graham when they first met. Conklin’s sense of psychedelic play is evident all the way down to the bottom where she stands on her own two…hands.

“Despite her rather jarring appearance, there is also a benign air about her. As Conklin notes, ‘she’s part angel because she can spread her big hands and fly away if she wants.’” – Scott Montgomery, The Art of Lee Conklin.
