The Doors Electric Head

Doors Poster by Victor Moscoso FD-50 Doors and Sparrow Break on through poster 1967

Description

A rare first printing poster advertising The Doors , Sparrow and Country Joe & The Fish, signed for you by Victor Moscoso.  The figure’s head is electrified and the words “Break on through to the other side” are printed above. “Break on Through” was the Doors first single and the record company make them change a line, “she gets high,” to  “she gets….she gets…she gets…and then a muffled moan by Jim Morrison.

Sparrow began in Canada as Jack London and the Sparrows in 1964 and eventually were gigging regularly in New York. In November 1966 they migrated to the West Coast and commuted back and forth between Los Angeles and San Francisco throughout the first six months of 1967. During June, Dennis Edmonton announced his decision to go solo subsequently changed his name to Mars Bonfire. By the end of 1967 Sparrow was dead but most of the members restarted as Steppenwolf and with the 1968 release of “Born to be Wild,” (written by Mars Bonfire, back in the band), became worldwide stars.
