On December 15th of 1967 the Soul Survivors, with the Box Tops and Jimmerfield Legend played the first of two weekend shows at the Family Dog Denver venue at 1601 W Evans St, Denver CO. The central image is of a customized drag bike motorcycle with the word “Truth” (the name of this poster) on a chrome plate. Artist Alton Kelley was a motorcycle mechanic and enthusiast. His monster bike here has a sideways mounted small block V-8 with headers. Not surprisingly, Kelley chose “Kelly” brand tires for his bike.
The Soul Survivors were a Philadelphia based soul music and R & B group known for their Top Ten 1967 hit, Expressway to your Heart. The Box Tops, had a smash hit, The Letter, which was #1 on the charts for four weeks in the Fall of 1967.
