Allman Brothers - Fillmore 1996

Chris Shaw’s career as an artist began in the early 1980′s creating flyers for punk bands in Boston. By the mid 80′s he moved to California where he attended California College of Arts and Crafts, majoring in both printmaking & drawing. By the early 90′s he was working with Bill Graham Presents in San Francisco, creating rock posters and stage sets for many of the 90′s biggest bands as well as the Horde Tours and Lollapalooza. To date, Shaw has created thousands of rock posters and hundreds of paintings. His work is collected by both rock poster fans as well as art collectors. Shaw’s imagery continues to provoke the viewer with intense color and subject matter.

The 1996 tour was a strong one for the Allman Brothers, playing 61 shows. Greg Allman writes in his autobiography, “once I had gotten sober, man, [in 1995] for the first time I was able to sit back and enjoy it….When we would play shows it was such a sweet sight – the fans, the crowds. We were playing huge shows in front of packed houses. The best part was I was actually aware enough to appreciate them. Once we got the momentum going, we never looked back.”
