Grateful Dead photographer Bob Minkin will be visiting the Bahr Gallery on Sunday November 17, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 pm where he will be signing copies of his new book, Just Phil, along with earlier volumes, Just Jerry and Just Bobby. In addition to his books, Bob will have a variety of his matted and signed photographs for sale in plenty of time for gift giving or maybe for yourself!

It's unlikely you will find a more poignant gift for a loved one or friend (or yourself) for the upcoming holidays given the recent passing of Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh. Each book is $60.
These beautiful coffee-table books each feature a beautiful array of photos of the Grateful Dead and later iterations by Minkin, with an emphasis on the title subject of course. Buy all three of them and you can alternate between Bobby photos and Jerry photos, just like a show, while also "letting Phil sing."
The Bahr Gallery will be serving "Gallery-style refreshements" and light snacks amidst the current vintage Grateful Dead poster Exhibition. Admission to the book signing is free.
Bob Minkin began going to shows when he was 15 and saw his first Dead related show, Garcia and Saunders at the Capitol Theater, NJ in November 1974. Bob was mesmerized by these concert experiences and the images on the Dead's albums and in music publications that had been captured by photographers such as Jim Marshall, Herb Green, Chuck Pulin and Dave Patrick and thought, "I want to do that that!" And so he began bringing a camera to concerts to document them and to have a personal keepsake from those experiences.
Bob's work has been published in many books, magazines and music packaging. In the 2000s Bob was the chief package designer for Grateful Dead Productions. He's published five Grateful Dead themed photo books, Live Dead, The Music Never Stopped, Just Jerry, Just Bobby and Just Phil. Bob continues his work as a photographer, documenting the music scene in the SF Bay Area and beyond. Originally from Brooklyn, NY, he currently lives in Marin County, CA
